“The medium is the message” is a phrase coined by Marshall McLuhan meaning that the form of a medium embeds itself in the message, creating a symbiotic relationship by which the medium influences how the message is perceived. McLuhan proposes that media themselves, not the content they carry, should be the focus of study; he said that a medium affects the society in which it plays a role not only by the content delivered over the medium, but by the characteristics of the medium itself.

no TV is cleansing

i do not watch TV. infact i have not had access to a TV for over the last 4 years. that has left me away from a lot of otherwise important events happening around the globe. probably i was the last person to know the election results of some super power country directly opposite of where i live. i really did not bother to care. being not in sync with the TVs made me somewhat skip some conversations about these issues with some people. but instead were able to talk about other aspects of life during these kind of occasions. i quickly apologize for not having a TV and then the conversions take a twist on each of these occasions. it is cleansing. and it has given me more time to do other things! real things! and yes i do exercise now!

how do we believe something?
1 – personal experience

i don’t believe all what my senses sense me to believe. because it has betrayed me more than just a couple of times. i could sense the colour of a tree to be blue once, and when i see it the next four times it could be green. so i would rather believe that one of my personal experiences were manipulated perhaps unintentionally by a bright blue light reflected off a blue wall.

Well, how would I go and personally check all what i’ve been conditioned to believe (by my surrounding mental / social and physical environment) how can i do reality checks multiple times on every single aspect of the world, my world view?

how can a person check on something that has happened hundreds of years ago which has resulted in them to unconditionally believe that certain personal experiences of a trusted 1st person is narrated by another trusted 2nd person? Or just take the easy route and unconditionally believe all aspects of this dimension of thought blindly and faithfully?

should i believe all what the news channels narrate on tv? what if they all say the same on bbc, cnn, tvm, radio maldives, dhifm, democracynow and aljazira? is it a good enough reason to believe them all? or should i rather go to the forefront and do a reality check?

thoughts are formed in my brain. thoughts which my brain strongly thinks is correct. correct as defined by my brain as something i believe. believe is something that i can hold on. but all as defined by brain. brain is also a word defined by my brain. the way i mean a word may not be the way you mean it. Is there a true meaning of a word which is universally accepted by all humans?

rebelling myself and everyone around me. holding back who i really am; from me and everyone else. or not wanting to define myself; for me and for everyone else. opening ‘who am i’ to nothing, anything and everything. once i come in one with myself would i be in peace? if i don’t confirm to the world or to myself, would i go mad? not yet. am i happy? am i depressed? doesn’t matter. can I think? yes i can, and i enjoy that. what is enjoy?

extremes of multiple dimensions of one situation can be thought of. there is no good and no bad. but my experience so far is that extremes are always harder to practice and makes living harder. but what is extreme for me today may not be that for me tomorrow and my extreme may not be yours.

unstable thought system. reviewing the thought process from time to time. breaking all rules it has forced onto itself. and then zooming out more and breaking all the meta-rules it has applied. infinitely on infinite directions.

i believe in nothing. changing the nothing to more of a nothing than yesterday’s nothing.
